Definition of Health and Importance of Lifestyle

Women with nutritious food in kitchen My Definition of Health:

Health is the state of physical, emotional and spiritual well-being resulting in a level of ease and contentment arising from the recognition of, respect for and adherence to the intrinsic value of our lives and its intelligent source.

An individual who recognizes the preeminent place that health has in determining the quality of their lives, will maintain healthy living as a core value for themselves and their family. They understand that health is the necessary ingredient that fuels a meaningful and purposeful life. Health is the requisite when your purpose is to bring your body, mind and
spirit out into the world in a way that is congruent with who you know yourself to be.

Who you are on the inside contributes more to your overall health and wellness than any ministrations dedicated to the purely physical.

As such, a healthy individual will make choices in life that are indeed congruent with a meaningful and purposeful life. An individual committed to a healthy life will, as a matter of course, eat healthfully; exercise regularly; appreciate the value of rest in a balanced life; adopt an attitude that embraces possibility, growth and understanding. It is also my conviction that when one understands the value of a healthy spine and nerve system, they will incorporate chiropractic care as a natural part of the ongoing commitment to abundant health. When you are living a healthy life, who you are in the world is an extension of your intentions; knowing that your very presence in the world has the power to contribute to the upliftment of all of those in your sphere of influence. Finally, a healthy individual is someone who will create a vision for themselves, where the idea of health and wellness is so inspiring and compelling, they will do whatever is necessary to make it happen.

Abundant health in this fashion is not a destination, but a pursuit, worthy of all of the fruit it bears, as it requires that we discover ways to re-invent ourselves.

Thinking About Lifestyle:

I consider myself to be an ardent advocate for human potential. I am committed to the idea that life is the playing field in which people get to show up in as big a way as they consciously choose. I understand that not everyone chooses to seek out a life that is purposefully impactful on the people in their sphere of influence; their family, friends and community. Nevertheless, I stand by the idea that that kind of life is available and possible to all. Whether it is in a quiet and unassuming way or as an outspoken advocate in the community, it is a beautiful thing to see inspiration at work. To work towards the betterment of the world with kindness and compassion in a way that we maintain balance in life, has always inspired me. As non-traditional as it sounds, I believe that sometimes, especially when we are creating something of value, it is acceptable to be out of balance, which is to say to give ourselves over to something completely until we can stand back and behold what we have created. There is a time to create and a time to enjoy what we have created and from my perspective, it all begins with health. Without health, there is not enough internal resource for creation. If someone has been in pain for years because of underlying issues, getting out of pain is not the end, but the beginning; the place to start. Once someone is finally out of pain, or feeling well enough to function productively, they can focus on healing in the truest sense of the word. Healing forward into the kind of life that is thoroughly gratifying. And that feels like peace and contentment.
